Who Is Davenport Johnson?

All three of us write the music. Sometimes a song starts with a ukulele or guitar rhythm part, sometimes a finger-picking pattern. Sometimes a bass riff or melody informs the magic. In the end, all the DJ songs are collaborative efforts.  And that's the way we like it. If you're curious about what influences our music and gets our inner groove moving click here.

Dave-id Dunlosky

Dave-id is mainly our lead ukulele player, but he plays rhythm parts as well. He really loves that familiar acoustic sound most people associate with a ukulele, but also has an affinity for the electric end of the spectrum. He uses a RISA LP electric to make sounds few think of as coming from a uke.

There have actually been some people that have asked, "If it's gonna sound like that, why not just play it on a guitar?" To which Dave-id always answers with a smile, "But I don't play guitar... I play ukulele."

Timothy Jay

Timothy Jay is the main rhythm player and his axes are both ukuleles and guitars. Electric and acoustic. He grabs whichever instrument the feeling of the song seems to dictate. He's a metronome with rhythm and finger picking but the melodies are often imbedded inside them just waiting to be coaxed out through Dave-id's lead.

He's also begun writing lyrics and singing, guaranteeing our second album will be more than just an instrumental offering. Which is way cool.

Chris Was

The bass man. Acoustic. Electric. Big, bold and wildly musical, Chris adds a bottom end that moves songs forward and keeps 'em going 'til they get there!

His classical guitar training filters through how he hears a bass part and makes DJ truly a trio in every sense of the word.

He hasn't yet added guitar to the mix, but there's no doubt that will come in time. Our upcoming CD will show you why we're thrilled to be working with Chris.
